How to prepare for your Cake Smash Photo Session?
A cake smash photo session is a fun, an amazing way to celebrate the milestone of your little one’s birthdays usually 1st or 2nd . Capture your baby’s surprise, curiosity and delight as they tear into their first taste of cake. A cake smash is a great way to express your baby’s unique personality in a relaxed and carefree way with great results within photos to treasure forever.
What to expect?
I start with some pre-smash portraits being taken of your child using props capturing their many expressions. I then introduce the cake which is chosen when you have booked in regards to allergies please state when booking.
When to schedule?
A month in advance is best to schedule and book your cake smash this ensures you get a slot that suits you best Week days only (weekends not available) . Most of my clients book before their baby's birthday as images from their session are used to display at their baby's birthday party and used for Thank you Cards. And after the splash i will give time for viewing the gallery that were taken for you to choice your chosen digital images.
What to bring?
Please bring a change of clothes for the both of you, as the icing can messy. A few of your child’s favourite toys may also be a good idea too for comforting and distracting them at the beginning of the session alongside a drink and snacks. Also bring plenty of wipes and a swim nappy if having a Splash session or milk bath.
What to wear?
It’s up to you and can be as casual or dressy as you like. Most people choose to bring along a couple of outfits, usually one for the ‘pre-cake’ portraits and the other for the “Cake Smash” itself. Feel free to dress and accessorize your child however you please. If your looking for something special and unique a great place to try is Etsy and Facebook. Please remember that their clothing within the cake smash may end up covered in icing so don’t dress them in something that you would be upset if it got ruined.
